Our Vaccine Philosophy

Immunizations have been one of the single greatest advances in preventative medicine and an essential part of well-child care. Our practice follows the immunization guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).  Our providers and staff at Southside Pediatrics are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding vaccinations.  The best way a parent can protect their child from many life changing diseases is to vaccinate.  Our providers encourage vaccinations but also respect the decisions of a parent’s “right to choose”.  We just ask, that parents respect our choice to educate and inform at any visit to the practice.  If for some reason you choose to not vaccinate your child we will require that you complete a vaccine refusal form to be maintained in the child’s medical record.

Parents should check with their insurance provider before consenting to have their child receive vaccinations.  Some insurance plans place limitations on the vaccine coverage.  Be sure to check with your insurance carrier if there are age limitations or vaccines that are “not a covered benefit.”
